The crisis rocking the country’s main opposition party in Adamawa State is far from over as a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state has threatened to sue the state Commissioner of Police over alleged illegal detention of three of its members.
According to a report by Punch, the members were released after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, ordered their freedom on Saturday after they had been detained for two days for terrorism by the Adamawa State Police Command.
According to reports, their release was after a petition had been written to the IG by Umar Ardo, convener of the parallel PDP faction of the party in the state.
The state CP, Audi Madaki, was accused by Ardo of taking sides with the Tahir Shehu led PDP faction.
Among the detained politicians were the factional chairman, Philip Buji; the legal adviser of the faction, Husseini Guyuk, and Abdulsalam Adamu, Personal Assistant to Ardo.
The state has been locked in a deadlock with a faction led by Tahiru Shehu and the other by Philip Buji
